World Whiskies Awards 2010
Po ogłoszeniu zwycięzców w konkursie Malt Advocate Whisky Awards (relacja z 13 lutego), przyszedł czas na ogłoszenie listy triumfatorów w konkursie organizowanym przez bodaj najbardziej prestiżowy magazyn poświęcony whisky, The Whisky Magazine i jego World Whiskies Awards 2010.
Jury, na czele którego stanął Dave Broom, poddało kandydatki do tytułów w poszczególnych kategoriach trzem rundom degustacji w ciemno. Jedynie w kategorii World’s Best New Release wybierano whisky na podstawie ocen publikowanych w ciągu roku na łamach magazynu, lecz i one poddane zostały końcowej degustacji konkursowej.
Co ciekawe, zarówno amerykański Malt Advocate, jak i brytyjski Whisky Magazine na najwyższym stopniu podium postawiły tę samą whisky, a mianowicie Ardbeg Corryvreckan. Ta młodziutka whisky z Islay zdobyła po raz drugi tytuł najlepszej whisky słodowej świata. Cóż, widocznie jakiś nieodparty urok musi w niej siedzieć.
